My Robots

I've been crafting robots using Raspberry Pi, Arduino, EV3, and NXT for quite some time now. Below is a selection of my projects spanning Arduino and EV3 platforms. My focus always gravitates toward projects that captivate my interest and present intriguing challenges...

Arduino Drone

This project is the best of both worlds! I took Arduino programs for quadcopters and GPS, then mashed them together to create an epic FPV (First Person View) quadcopter. It all started with a humble LEGO prototype, but with some tinkering and tweaking, I ended up with a full-fledged flying machine!

Arduino Spot Welder

Ever heard of giving an old microwave a new life?  This spot welder is proof that recycling rocks! We took a transformer that was headed for the scrap heap and repurposed it for welding. But to make it super effective, I designed an Arduino-based control circuit. This project combined a simple transformer with a brainy Arduino to create a kickass spot welder.

ESP32 RFID Reader

This project is all about security and convenience. I built an RFID reader using an ESP32 microcontroller (think tiny super brain) and some other components. Here's the magic: when someone taps their pre-registered RFID card (like a keycard), the circuit reads it. If it's a recognized card, a relay clicks, unlocking whatever is connected to it like a boss and a friendly welcome message pops up. But for any imposters? Access denied! Pretty sweet, right?

Arduino Weather Station

Who needs a weatherman when you can have your weather station? This project is all about harnessing the power of Arduino to create a real-time weather station that connects to a cloud service. It's like having your weatherman giving you live updates and future forecasts, right in your room (or wherever you decide to put it). No more wondering if you need an umbrella - this weather station will keep you informed, rain or shine!

Hand Sanitizer Dispenser

This project is all about staying healthy and tech-savvy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I built a prototype for an automatic hand sanitizer dispenser. No more touching germy pumps! This baby dispenses sanitizer automatically when it detects a hand nearby, keeping things clean and convenient.

Sumo Bot V1

This is where the robot battles begin! This is the first version of my sumobot, built specifically for the Roboparade competition.  It was all about testing and learning.  We put this bot through its paces and figured out what worked and what needed some serious upgrades (spoiler alert: a Sumo Bot V2 is coming later!).  Stay tuned to see how I took this prototype and turned it into a wrestling champion!

Self Balancing Robot

This self-balancing robot is crafted from the Lego EV3 kit. Equipped with the capability to balance on two wheels and detect nearby objects, it showcases dynamic movement. Moreover, its ability to express emotions based on the colors it perceives adds an engaging dimension to its functionality.

Sumo Bot V2

Remember that first sumo bot? Yeah, this is its super-powered upgrade, built to dominate the Roboparade competition. Here I built a front lifting mechanism to send opponents tossing out of the ring, and added tracks for superior grip. This bot can climb over smaller enemies and dodge attacks like nobody's business.
